Golar LNG (GLNG) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Golar LNG is well positioned to benefit from secular LNG infrastructure demand, with geopolitical supply concerns and energy security needs pushing buyers toward flexible floating liquefaction, especially in West Africa and other stranded-gas regions. Its recent Q2 results showed adjusted EBITDA of about $117M, roughly 16% above estimates, while robust cash of about $908M against $2.7B of debt supports continued investment and reduces execution risk. The positive view is further reinforced by positive FID on a 3.5mtpa fourth FLNG unit delivering in 2029, plus a second FLNG slated to start operating next year, which should expand secured cash flows and future earnings power.
Bears say
Golar LNG is facing a more challenging demand backdrop because 2Q26 Asian LNG imports fell to 38.0Mt, about 7% below the five-year average, with China down 18% versus that benchmark and 9% year over year, signaling weaker pull from the region that anchors global LNG growth. Although June volumes normalized, the rebound was driven by more expensive spot cargoes and even sanctioned Russian supply, which underscores volatile trade flows and the possibility of margin pressure rather than durable demand strength. With Europe’s Q2 imports only back in line after disruptions and EU storage still about 15% below last year, the company’s FLNG-heavy exposure remains vulnerable to uneven demand, price sensitivity, and geopolitically driven supply shifts.
