FOCL Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Edap TMS is benefiting from a structurally improving HIFU franchise, with gross margin rising to 55.6% in 2Q26 from 51.1% in 2Q25 and management still targeting 60% in FY2028, supported by lower system costs, better pricing discipline, and operating leverage. The company’s growth outlook is also reinforced by 13 capital sales in 2Q26, a 184-system installed base, and 47% YoY US procedure growth versus 38% treatment-driven revenue growth, while five international placements and reimbursement wins suggest broadening commercial traction. Its durable bull case rests on clinical and strategic advantages: Focal One’s QoL and efficacy profile, rising physician adoption, a 300-deal pipeline, and continued investment in AI, imaging, FocalConnect, and histotripsy to expand indications and deepen the platform.
Bears say
Edap TMS is facing a difficult fundamental setup because 2Q26 revenue of $13.2M fell short of the $15.1M consensus estimate while the net loss widened to $0.39 per diluted share versus $0.22 expected, signaling weaker-than-anticipated commercial traction and operating leverage. Although management reiterated 2026 revenue guidance and core HIFU growth of 34%–45% YoY, the company still expects a 2026 net loss of $0.97 per diluted share and relies on ongoing capital support, including about $14M drawn from EIB debt in April 2026 and approximately $42.7M raised in August 2026. Elevated execution, regulatory, reimbursement, currency, and intellectual property risks further justify a negative outlook despite a pro forma net cash position of about $24.9M.
