Digital Infrastructure

Digital infrastructure is the technology working hard behind the scenes that powers the internet. These physical assets serve as the foundation for emerging technologies such as online gaming, remote work, artificial intelligence, social media, and the cloud. Whether it’s for streaming Netflix, firing off a tweet, making a phone call, or storing data on Amazon Web Services, digital infrastructure companies are involved in the execution. As internet adoption accelerates globally, and more industries adopt newer technologies, the demand for digital infrastructure services will grow alongside it. Part of the adoption is tied to mobile devices, which often serve as a gateway to traditional technologies and may play a role in ushering in a new generation of technologies. By 2023 there will be more than 13 billion mobile devices in the world, of which 1.4 billion will be 5G capable, according to Cisco’s Annual Internet Report. Companies heavily involved in providing digital infrastructure include Liberty Global, Charter Communications, American Tower Corp, and Altice USA.
