MediWound (MDWD) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
MediWound is underpinned by a de-risked, revenue-generating NexoBrid franchise and a broader pipeline that could expand its addressable market materially, with the EscharEx VLU program advancing toward an interim assessment in 1Q27 and full enrollment by end of 1Q27. Management reaffirmed FY2026 revenue guidance of $24-$26M, supported primarily by BARDA-related revenue, including anticipated government revenue of roughly $12-$14M in 2026 and initial procurement expected in 2H26 under a 10-year BARDA contract valued at up to $197M. The company also has meaningful upside optionality from EscharEx, whose U.S. peak sales potential was raised to $1.05B with pressure ulcers added, while NexoBrid’s manufacturing and regulatory path remains on track for European clearance in 2H26 and FDA inspection in early 2027.
Bears say
MediWound is facing a weak fundamental setup because its revenue outlook depends heavily on adoption and reimbursement for NexoBrid, yet EU countries do not approve favorable reimbursement for medium to severe burn wounds, which has already contributed to poor revenue and unprofitability. The company also remains exposed to execution risk in EscharEx, as anticipated initial revenues were pushed further into 2028 and a failure to show adequate efficacy in P3 development could materially hurt the stock. While the model still values future revenues from NexoBrid and EscharEx through 2032, the downside case is driven by regulatory, commercial, and financial uncertainty, despite about $44.6M in net cash and cash equivalents.
