#WhitePaper #CryptoLingo
Trust but verify. Crypto is new and there will be Ponzi schemes and so if it sounds to be good to be true ... well be skeptical. There are alt coins that are probably pump and dump schemes. If you don't really understand it ... well then probably ok to go ahead and avoid that investment for the time being. Nothing wrong with sticking to the big 2 w/ BTC and ETH until you are more acclimated. If you find this or any of the series helpful, would appreciate if you pop over to the YouTube channel and drop a like to help appease the YouTube algorithm
The Breakdown:
- "The purpose of a white paper is to promote a certain product, service, technology, or methodology, and to influence current and prospective customers' or investors' decisions." - Investopedia
- "In the context of blockchain, a whitepaper is one of the first documents that is created after a project has a working product and funding." - Cryptopedia
- Think of it as a written Shark Tank pitch about the technical aspect, economics, development team, needs met, and other pertinent information for the new cryptocurrency.
How do I find Cryptocurrency White Papers?
- This is no different than searching for prospective investor information in a company's investor relations section of the website
- Personally, I have used Coinbase to find and read the White Papers that are listed there ... this means I am LIMITED to only the Coins they offer
What should I know about White Papers before investing?
- Investing in newer cryptocurrencies that are just starting out have the potential for huge gains like we saw a bunch of overnight millionaires when DOGE had its run up before Elon Musk SNL
- White Papers for Crypto isn't exclusive to crypto equivalent of penny stocks or micro caps ... it is still good practice to understand the mission statement of mainstream ones before investing as well
- "White papers may also be technical documents elaborating on a new invention or product offering."
- Investopedia
What are the downsides of White Paper for investing?
- There are "Exit Scam" which is essentially a fake business/cryptocurrency that is created with the sole purpose of a "Pump and Dump" ... think Ponzi Scheme
- They build a business model, white paper and make it look credible then allow for investors to pump the price up and then the original insiders will dump their position leading to the rest holding the bag as it free falls in value
- Just because the idea sounds good doesn't mean that it will be executed properly or be adopted by the community readily ... much like any other start up business

Thanks for the insight @ctsshah

@vbtiger16 ya I am just trying to get caught up to be honest
@celtic you are welcome
Hope you both have a great start to your day!

Great read, nice YouTube video.

@damondamnit thank you for always supporting! I truly appreciate it. I do get worried that Public has shifted into non-stop Crypto all the time. Hope people don't abandon traditional investing

@triniman82 is there anything specific about the economy, GDP or stock market you were wanting to know about? Those are super broad categories and not sure where to drill down on 😁

Damon Gwinn@damondamnit
@ctsshah it does seem that way. I think part of it is people can see it in real-time all day, and than there is what I call the dreamers. Some of us still believe in traditional investing. Haven’t and won’t be closing any of my other accounts, nor not contributing to them. That’s just me!

@Phoenix24 👋good morning!
@damondamnit the allure of fast and easy money is creating some habits that have me concerned. From meme stocks to meme coins. I don't think there is anything wrong with investing a small portion you are fine losing, but people are getting greedy and betting their life savings in the hopes of getting rich quick. It is going to be sad when the bubble pops

Krystal@krystal1974
@ctsshah Thank you so much for your time in creating these videos. I have learned so much. You have answered so many questions without me having to ask. Thank you!

@ctsshah this topic is not for me per se, I have a decent enough grasp on Macro econ topics; I was thinking about people that are new to investing.

@vbtiger16 it is easy to get caught up in it, I know I find myself having a higher tolerance for risk now due to some of the gains but I need to reign it back in
@GetSlade thank you!

@krystal1974 You are welcome. I created the channel to hopefully answer questions that new investors should be asking. I try to cover stuff in more detail on my blog https://www.ctsshah.com/new-to-investing

@triniman82 ya I vaguely remember I think you telling me about your professor that would give tips randomly and got you hooked. Ya I've never taken an econ class in my life so I definitely would be out of my element trying to teach on more nitty gritty stuff on econ and GDP. But will add this to my homework list to read and learn about!

@kwarta ya i'm holding a nice amount where if the decimal changes a couple places I could potentially do well
@chadp10 the learn and earn is great and then converting is easy

☝️FWIW, I pulled my original investment money back out of profits and now most of what I invest is from profits. I do the same at a casino. That way I walk out with at least what I had when I walked in there. If I lose money, it hurts less since it never really was in n my pocket.
Of course, this is only as I start investing long term on a few certain stocks. I’m on a few different investment plat…See more
