Beginners Tip/ Tip for everyone IMPORTANT CRYPTO INFORMATION! The important things you need to know about crypto on Public! At the moment i'm just thinking its two things that isnt really crossing many peoples minds, when it really should be the main things. Alright so check it, yes it's awesome CRYPTO IS ON PUBLIC now! Do a little dance but then stop. i love Public and i mean no shade to them about this i'm just putting it out there to inform everyone so you guys are aware of it and then can’t start saying "hey Public cheated me and they scammed me" because ive read so many messages and posts from so many people claiming Public did something so they are all mad huffing and puffing talking about how they deserve more from Public and how they lost money because of what happened and so much other BS and within 1 minute of me researching through the FAQs i find the person is actually at fault because Public actually states everything very clearly. But even worse they get so mad and demand Public to fix the mistake they made by not reading or looking up what they were doing even after Pulic credits them a free slice. So as much as it may look that im showing something that isnt great about Public, i'm doing it so there's far less people claiming that Public is doing something wrong. As hard as it maybe to believe i don't state this to be condescending, i state this because i don't like people blaming other people for their own mistakes it irks me sooooooo much. FIRST: YOU DON'T OWN ANY OF THE ACTUAL CRYPTO THAT YOU BUY ON HERE 😱 (sort of) what does that mean? Well lets just bring up my actual tweet and response i got Twitter: (Responding to Publics tweet about crypto): "Surprised no one has asked yet, which is perhaps the most important question Will we have a wallet for our crypto or will we just be able to buy and sell crypto but not actually own it to use on other apps or make purchases ?" (Public responding): " @SpidersMethod Hey There! Currently, Public does not offer individual cryptocurrency wallets. We provide cryptocurrency trading through Apex Crypto. Your cryptocurrency is held in your Apex Crypto account, which you can access via Public." Why is this important? Well first off you don't get a wallet to store your actual crypto meaning you cant use your crypto as an actual currency! You can only use it to trade on here and thats it. You cant transfer in or out from different accounts, if you do it gets sold and you get the cash value at the price it was sold (this is in the FAQs) "As such, it is not possible to transfer your cryptocurrency assets into or out of Public, but we will let you know if that changes!" So yes you own it on here but you don't own it like you can have it in your wallet and use it anywhere else as a currency. SECOND! There's a 1-2% fee every single time you buy crypto on here. IF YOU DID NOT KNOW THIS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NOT BE TRYING TO BUY CRYPTO INTO YOU LEARN WAY MORE ABOUT IT. This can be found in the FAQs as well "Apex Crypto charges a 1% to 2% markup to pay for their service, which is reflected in the price at which Apex Crypto executes your order to buy or sell cryptocurrency. The markup covers all of the costs associated with facilitating crypto transactions and storing crypto, and Public receives some of the revenue generated in exchange for licensing our software to Apex Crypto. Here’s how it works: Say the current market price for cryptocurrency XYZ is $100. You purchase $100 worth of XYZ. Applying a 1% markup, Apex Crypto executes your order for XYZ at a price of $101. You will own slightly less than 1 full XYZ given the markup." Yea yea i know $1 for every $100 doesnt sound like a lot but it does add up fast, you also have to consider that again you don't even get a wallet to be able to move and use your crypto elsewhere which is usually why other apps charge a fee. I got nothing but love for Public, i'm just trying to help out people who arent aware of this even because his information isn't considered by many. Like i said none of this is secret and Public has made it very clear in their FAQs so they aren't hiding anything, so when things go wrong and you want to blame Public take a moment to think whether they are being sneaky snakes or if perhaps the fault falls entirely on you A grasshopper can only jump safely if it looks at what it's jumping too, if the grasshopper jumps without looking and lands in the mouth of a frog, does it blame the frog? Or does it blame itself for not being careful and seeing where it was going to land before deciding to jump? šŸ™šŸ¼Help me and subscribe to my YouTube channel!(its completely free) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-3PLA7vsRD1RA8HGh7u7sg Find/Add/Follow all my SOCIAL MEDIA https://dot.cards/Spider IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L3M9kkcYWj9Tx9NAfdVabuiaEaP4XWuW/view?usp=sharing #crypto #information #publiccommunity

šŸ”„ . Coinbase says it charges 1.5%?, but it’s really about 5-10% for small transactions. I was just wondering that today and im glad you are pointing that out. So if we buy crypto here we can’t use it to pay someone with crypto šŸ˜. But I get it.

Thanks for this. I've been wary of getting into crypto for these reasons and others. I'm not wealthy enough to just "try it out" at this point. Or rather, not willing to risk it on something that does have big potential gains, but also big potential loss. I'm glad people are excited about Crypto, and I wish big gains for all, but I also think it's hugely important to know what you're getting int…See more

Great explanation. Appreciate all you do @UnderCoverHedgefund . I also saw a bunch of comments about some people getting to buy before others. Personally idc and have no idea how they decided who got to purchase when. I just wrote in the comments that many other platforms offer crypto if they are that impatient about it. I suggested RH if they want to trust them with their money or even coin base i…See more

Public not letting people invest in certain stocks that are jumping today seems like big brother stop the little guy again

@CyclingGainz ive only used Coinbase for the free cryptos you can get lol But is it really that freaken high? And nope you can’t spend it, or send it to yourself or to anyone, and I didn’t add it because I’m not 100% positive if it’s true but I swear I could remember reading a while while back that how RH was set up with crypto (just like Public is now) if RH went bust whatever crypto you had wou…See more

@washie even when I was at $13k+ I stayed away from crypto and finally decided to jump in after I completely my first year of investing , not that 13k is a gigantic amount of money or anything but because I didn’t want to risk it without having at least have a full year of experience trading the market and to try to learn as much as I could before jumping into something a bit different Sounds like…See more

I land in the SAME EXACT CAMP as you! I just made a post yesterday about how much I absolutely love Public and I do! I was one of the first to be able to invest in crypto here… But after seeing how all of this is setup, I think I’ll be doing my crypto business somewhere else. Now, if they DID have a wallet and I actually OWN my crypto, I’d do my crypto business here without hesitation. I apprecia…See more

@fothaluvofmuny yea that’s true I think it goes by who tapped to sign up to the waitlist first got access to crypto first , but you’re right people are upset about it that they don’t have access yet which is annoying because crypto wasn’t even offered to anyone a week ago so there’s no reason to be upset about it just wait more and if they can’t there’s other platforms like you mentioned
S
@RGW81 hmmm now I’m not sure about either lol I think stock you actually own even if you don’t have the actual paper (which is why you can transfer it,and crypto gets sold for transfers since you don’t really own it?) I have to re look that up as well
S
@adavis1087 I don’t think Public actually is at fault for that I think it’s Apex who decides when that happens, but honestly it happens with almost all platforms for investing there’s a few that haven’t had any restrictions (supposably) but idk if it’s true or not

@UnderCoverHedgefund I’m with you man! I wish people would just take a little bit of time, to go through and read the FAQs and other support material. Everything is written clearly for anyone and everyone.
S
@willis79 I was thinking of doing crypto on here but doing that math the 1-2% is pretty steep for a $1000 buy and then you don’t even own it makes it very hard for me not to want to do crypto on here because $15 for every buy (I’m not sure if it’s another $15 to sell but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is lol) and then you don’t even actually own the crypto makes it very unappealing to want to buy on…See more

@AxA even the FAQs has a bar where you can type in the question or keyword and whatever material has it will come up so it’s so infuriating (and pathetic) when people make posts trying to bash Public and demand to make it right when Public has done nothing wrong whatsoever And instead of people like you and me , who come in and say all of this is completely detailed and written if you spend a few…See more

@UnderCoverHedgefund The fees, I get. Most places are going to charge a fee. It’s the ownership thing that is unappealing to me! Like I said, I’m not mad at Public. I’d still give them a 5 star review! It’s all good with them, but like I said, I think I just need to keep my crypto somewhere else. Maybe they change? Maybe they do the wallet and ownership eventually…. If they change that, I’ll probab…See more

Stocks, ETFs, Options, Bonds.
Self-directed brokerage accounts and brokerage services for US-listed, registered securities, options, and Bonds, except for treasury securities offered through Jiko Securities, Inc., are offered to self-directed customers by Open to the Public Investing, Inc. (ā€œPublic Investingā€), a registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA & SIPC. Additional information about your broker can be found by clicking here. Public Investing is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Public Holdings, Inc. (ā€œPublic Holdingsā€). This is not an offer, solicitation of an offer, or advice to buy or sell securities or open a brokerage account in any jurisdiction where Public Investing is not registered. Securities products offered by Public Investing are not FDIC insured. Apex Clearing Corporation, our clearing firm, has additional insurance coverage in excess of the regular SIPC limits. Additional information can be found here.

Options.
Certain requirements must be met in order to trade options. Options can be risky and are not suitable for all investors. Options transactions are often complex, and investors can rapidly lose the entire amount of their investment or more in a short period of time. Investors should consider their investment objectives and risks carefully before investing in options. Refer to the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options before considering any options transaction. Supporting documentation for any claims, if applicable, will be furnished upon request. Tax considerations with options transactions are unique and investors considering options should consult their tax advisor as to how taxes affect the outcome of each options strategy.

Options Order Flow Rebates.
If you are enrolled in our Options Order Flow Rebate Program, Public Investing will share a percentage of our estimated order flow revenue for each completed options trade as a rebate to help reduce your trading costs. Rebate rates vary monthly from $0.06-$0.18 and depend on your current and prior month’s options trading volume. This rebate will be deducted from your cost to place the trade and will be reflected on your trade confirmation. To learn more, see our Options Rebate Program Terms & Conditions, Order Rebate FAQ and Fee Schedule.

Bonds.
ā€œBondsā€ shall refer to corporate debt securities and U.S. government securities offered on the Public platform through a self-directed brokerage account held at Public Investing and custodied at Apex Clearing. For purposes of this section, Bonds exclude treasury securities held in treasury accounts with Jiko Securities, Inc. as explained under the ā€œ Treasury Accountsā€ section.

Investments in Bonds are subject to various risks including risks related to interest rates, credit quality, market valuations, liquidity, prepayments, early redemption, corporate events, tax ramifications and other factors. The value of Bonds fluctuate and any investments sold prior to maturity may result in gain or loss of principal. In general, when interest rates go up, Bond prices typically drop, and vice versa. Bonds with higher yields or offered by issuers with lower credit ratings generally carry a higher degree of risk. All fixed income securities are subject to price change and availability, and yield is subject to change. Bond ratings, if provided, are third party opinions on the overall bond's credit worthiness at the time the rating is assigned. Ratings are not recommendations to purchase, hold, or sell securities, and they do not address the market value of securities or their suitability for investment purposes.

A Bond Account is a self-directed brokerage account with Public Investing. Deposits into this account are used to purchase 10 investment-grade and high-yield bonds. The Bond Account’s yield is the average, annualized yield to worst (YTW) across all ten bonds in the Bond Account, before fees. A bond’s yield is a function of its market price, which can fluctuate; therefore a bond’s YTW is not ā€œlocked inā€ until the bond is purchased, and your yield at time of purchase may be different from the yield shown here. The ā€œlocked inā€ YTW is not guaranteed; you may receive less than the YTW of the bonds in the Bond Account if you sell any of the bonds before maturity or if the issuer defaults on the bond. Public Investing charges a markup on each bond trade. See our Fee Schedule.

Bond Accounts are not recommendations of individual bonds or default allocations. The bonds in the Bond Account have not been selected based on your needs or risk profile. You should evaluate each bond before investing in a Bond Account. The bonds in your Bond Account will not be rebalanced and allocations will not be updated, except for Corporate Actions.

Fractional Bonds also carry additional risks including that they are only available on Public and cannot be transferred to other brokerages. Read more about the risks associated with fixed income and fractional bonds. See Bond Account Disclosures to learn more.

High-Yield Cash Account.
A High-Yield Cash Account is a secondary brokerage account with Public Investing. Funds in your High-Yield Cash Account are automatically deposited into partner banks (ā€œPartner Banksā€), where that cash earns interest and is eligible for FDIC insurance. See here for a list of current Partner Banks. Your Annual Percentage Yield is variable and may change at the discretion of the Partner Banks or Public Investing. Apex Clearing and Public Investing receive administrative fees for operating this program, which reduce the amount of interest paid on swept cash. Neither Public Investing nor any of its affiliates is a bank. Learn more.

Cryptocurrency.
Cryptocurrency trading, execution, and custody services are provided by Bakkt Crypto Solutions, LLC (NMLS ID 1828849) (ā€œBakktā€). Cryptocurrency is highly speculative, involves a high degree of risk, and has the potential for loss of the entire amount of an investment. Cryptocurrencies offered by Bakkt are not securities and are not FDIC insured or protected by SIPC. Your cryptocurrency assets are held in your Bakkt account. Bakkt is a licensed virtual currency business by the New York State Department of Financial Services and a licensed money transmitter, but is not a registered broker-dealer or a FINRA member. Your Bakkt Crypto account is separate from your brokerage account with Public Investing, which holds US-listed stocks and ETFs. Please review the Risk Disclosures before trading.

Treasury Accounts.
Investing services in treasury accounts offering 6 month US Treasury Bills on the Public platform are through Jiko Securities, Inc. (ā€œJSIā€), a registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA & SIPC. See JSI’s FINRA BrokerCheck and Form CRS for further information. JSI uses funds from your Treasury Account to purchase T-bills in increments of $100 ā€œpar valueā€ (the T-bill’s value at maturity). T-bills are purchased at a discount to the par value and the T-bill’s yield represents the difference in price between the ā€œpar valueā€ and the ā€œdiscount price.ā€ Aggregate funds in your Treasury Account in excess of the T-bill purchases will remain in your Treasury Account as cash. The value of T-bills fluctuate and investors may receive more or less than their original investments if sold prior to maturity. T-bills are subject to price change and availability - yield is subject to change. Past performance is not indicative of future performance. Investments in T-bills involve a variety of risks, including credit risk, interest rate risk, and liquidity risk. As a general rule, the price of a T-bills moves inversely to changes in interest rates. Although T-bills are considered safer than many other financial instruments, you could lose all or a part of your investment. See Jiko U.S. Treasuries Risk Disclosures for further details.

Investments in T-bills: Not FDIC Insured; No Bank Guarantee; May Lose Value.

Banking services and bank accounts are offered by Jiko Bank, a division of Mid-Central National Bank. JSI and Jiko Bank are not affiliated with Public Holdings, Inc. (ā€œPublicā€) or any of its subsidiaries. None of these entities provide legal, tax, or accounting advice. You should consult your legal, tax, or financial advisors before making any financial decisions. This material is not intended as a recommendation, offer, or solicitation to purchase or sell securities, open a brokerage account, or engage in any investment strategy.

Commission-free trading refers to $0 commissions charged on trades of US listed registered securities placed during the US Markets Regular Trading Hours in self-directed brokerage accounts offered by Public Investing.
