Invested in Amazon
šUpdate: #DollarCostAveraging my way to a whole share of $AMZN.
Generally, with a Dollar Cost Averaging strategy, you would periodically buy several shares of a stock with the intent of lowering the average cost paid per stock but I barely have $3,000 to begin with so Iām just buying $1 a day.
šæ Total holdings $175.96
š± Shares 0.05721
š Average Price Paid $3,174.99
š· All Time Gain -$5.68 (3.13%)
š52-Week High $3,552.25
ā¬ļø 52-week Low $1,889.15
Hereās how itās going:
My first Amazon transaction occurred on July 16, 2020, with a partial share purchase at $2,954.00 a share. Today Amazonās stock price is $108 higher than it was in July 2020. Today one share of Amazon costs about $3,062 a share.
Amazonās stock has dipped 3% since March however the stock is still 1.74% higher than it was when I made my initial investment in July 2020.
Technically I have an unrealized loss of $5.68. A closer look reveals that the very first partial shares that I purchased last summer are currently worth more today than they were at the date of purchase; However, the shares that I brought in March 2021 have lost 3% of their value.
Overall I have lowered my average purchase price by $10 since February 10th, thanks to my reoccurring daily purchases & the recent slump in Amazonās stock price.
