API key security
Muse connects with a Public API key instead of OAuth. Treat the key like a password: only paste it into tools you trust, and never share it publicly. This connection can view your account information and place trades using real money in your Public account.
Set up Meta Muse

Create your Muse account
Go to muse.ai and create an account. Complete the onboarding steps to set up your Muse. - 2
Ask Muse to connect to Public
Start a new conversation and send Muse this message:The Public.com MCP server is at https://mcp.public.com/mcp. Authenticate using my Public API key as the Bearer token in the Authorization header. Connect via MCP streamable HTTP (POST an initialize request first), then use the check_setup tool to verify it worked. Use my key only for this session, and never place trades without my explicit confirmation. - 3
Get your Public API key
Create an API key in your Public API settings, then return to Muse and provide the key when prompted. - 4

Trade with Meta Muse through Public
Once connected, Meta Muse can use the Public MCP server to retrieve live market data, review your portfolio, and place orders from a conversation.
Markets
Research and trade stocks, ETFs, options, and crypto supported by Public.
Trading access
Submit supported order types during the trading sessions available for each asset. Eligible equity orders can use extended hours.
Accounts and permissions
Muse uses the accounts and trading permissions associated with your Public API key. Options strategies require the appropriate approval level.
Tools available
View balances, positions, quotes, option chains, open orders, and transaction history; run preflight checks; and submit or cancel orders.
